Crappy iPhone shots aside, we need to talk about Leaves Cafe. It’s the cutest little nook that Ave de la Montagne has to offer, and when I say nook I mean to emphasize that this is no place for tons of space. Regardless, it makes the place all the more cozy and niche, a gem for those who actually know about it.
Their espresso is strong! I can’t remember the last time I had a macchiato that had such a powerful flavour (granted, it was a double shot, but still). I was more than buzzed for the whole afternoon.
The best part about this cafe is that it has eating-restriction-friendly options NOT just for food – they offer almond, soy, and coconut milk – a rarity in places other than L.A. and New York City. I ordered almond milk with my macchiato, which is something that I’ve had varied experiences with (a lot of cafes actually burn the milk…Dispatch). It tasted good, which I usually take as a positive sign.
I had to try out their vegan eats as well, so I got a vanilla and chocolate donut. It’s vegan AND gluten free (though not sugar free…). That’s enough to justify treats on a Tuesday, right?
Only downside to the cafe is that they have weird weekend hours. They only open at noon on Saturdays and Sundays, though most cafes are consistent with being open in the early hours for those who like to laze their weekends away with coffee and good company. However, this is a step up from Cafe Osmo (see last week’s coffee post), which isn’t even open on weekends.
Would recommend! Happy October.
