I feel as though every coffee post I write includes the phrase “tucked away in x corner of the city”, as though being some nook serves as a criterion for a good cafe.
That seems to be fairly accurate.
Tucked away on Adelaide East is a multipurpose food stop that includes the wonder that is Clockwork Coffee Company (amongst a Rose City Kitchen and Smash Juice Bar). Its dark wood interior is comforting on the eyes, especially in the early morning. It may be small, but it is highly put together and an all-round impressive coffee shop. The bartenders are some of the friendliest I’ve ever spoken to (we spoke about Australia and travelling ambitions for a total of however long it took to make my cortado, which was done with extreme care). However, they do specialize in pour-over coffee. Would recommend.
In any case, if you find yourself in the financial district, you have little excuse for not visiting this place. It’s the neighbourhood’s best kept (but not for long) secret. Also, the donuts are to die for and look great in pictures, if I do say so myself.
Check out their Instagram here. Happy Sunday!
