This place is a little gem. If I opened my own cafe, it would be like this.
It’s such a fresh, bright little pastry shop with the cutest bicycle and cart decor. It’s minimal, but has the right amount of elaborate charm to make it feel French rather than Scandinavian, if you know what I mean. And while the Grand Budapest Hotel poster is not entirely French, it still works. It’s probably the pink. Pink is key.
They use Dispatch coffee, which many McGill students are familiar with. It’s popular here, and for good reason. It’s amazing.
While this place is a bit of a trek to get to, Westmount is like the Yorkville of Montreal. If you’re in the mood for this kind of atmosphere, then it’s worth the trip. And since Bar Luce is not a place I foresee myself being able to go to anytime soon, this may be the next best thing (without the classic fallen glamour sort of decor…this place is polished).
