The Apt by 800 SQ FT

It’s hard to live in Toronto as a young adult with no money. I currently don’t have the concern of real estate to deal with, but with average house prices in the city of over $1 million, it’s no wonder people opt for apartments and condominiums. And with a growing demographic of modern, clean, and classic design lovers, it’s even more difficult to decorate accordingly whatever space you can afford within a certain budget. This is what mastermind Nike Onile had in mind when coming up with the concept for the Apt by 800 SQ FT. Extremely innovative, talented, and a perfectionist to boost, Nike (pronounced like Nikki) reworked a tiny, one-bedroom apartment into an entirely shoppable experience. This past Tuesday I had the honour of attending the blogger preview event.

Think of the place as a showroom, where everything down to the furniture, art, clothes, decorations, and even food are available for purchase. The place is ever-changing along with the seasons, and continually restocking as things are sold. It’s a crazy, wonderful, and genius idea.

Nike also knows how to throw a wonderful party. Complete with rhubarb strawberry sparkling drinks (the best thing I’ve ever tasted), fruit and cheese, and cookies, chocolate, and cake from Toronto bakery Purple Cupcake (which you can actually buy), I’m pretty sure I sampled one of everything. So it’s a good thing that Nike (now the brand) is getting me fit in time for Nike Women’s Weekend!

Shopping the Apt by 800 SQ FT is done by appointment or online. Make sure you check out the website and Instagram! There’s a shopping party happening on the 25-26 of June, so register for your spot now! Also, I met the most lovely people at the event, some of whom have their work featured and on sale at the apartment. I met designer Sebastian Guarin or Atelier Guarin, a local designer who is ready to hit the World Mastercard runway this fall. He has fab designs on his website and Instagram. Also, I fell in love with acrylic on acrylic panels artwork by Nicole Charles; she’s the sweetest and coolest Toronto has to offer, so check out her Instagram and website as well.

Until next time 🙂
