Tucked away in a cozy corner of Yorkville is a luxurious little chocolate boutique called MoRoCo. I was informed by a friend a while ago of its Alice In Wonderland theme, leaving me intrigued. An entire cafe dedicated with a theme dedicated to my favourite childhood novel? Yes, please.
We were ushered to the back of the cafe, where we were seated in a little booth. This is a more formal cafe than the ones I usually go to. Think of it as a restaurant, tips and tax and waitresses and bill splitting included. Many people come here for high tea, and if you’re feeling ambitious you can splurge $600 on a bottle of Louis Roederer Cristal!
Their cappuccinos were not the best I have ever tasted, perhaps because of the fact that their coffee was a really dark roast and I’m partial to milder espresso. However, they deserve a prize for their dainty presentation: coffee comes in a delicate teacup and is served with a macaron for dipping. At a pricey $7, it better come with a treat!
One thing that I will have to go back to try is their chocolate. That’s their specialty, although I thought that their cinnamon bun pancakes were unreal. I’ll definitely be visiting this place for more special occasions. It is more than a mad tea party! Visit their website here.
